Here are preliminary portions of my book A Modern Ancient Story, in first draft. I welcome any questions, clarifications, disagreements, or thoughts on how to improve any of the items below (cjbarrigar@sympatico.ca). A note to readers: in order to keep footnotes to a minimum for non-academic readers, references are provided at the end of each chapter.
